Australian Umpires Appointed to World Cup Semi-Final
Two Australian umpires have been appointed to stand on-field in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Semi-Final between England and South Africa at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Cricket Australia (CA) Supplementary Umpire Panel (SUP) members Claire Polosak and Eloise Sheridan will officiate in the match to determine who will go on to meet Australia in the Final. During the tournament, Polosak has stood on-field in five preliminary matches with a further two appointments as Third Umpire. Polosak was on-field when these two teams met at the Bay Oval, Tauranga where South Africa secured a thrilling three wicket won in the last over. Polosak was also on-field when the West Indies upset England in a close seven run victory.
Sheridan’s tournament began in the second preliminary match of the tournament when South Africa played Bangladesh at the University Oval in Dunedin. Sheridan also stood with fellow Australian Paul Wilson in the match between Bangladesh and the West Indies, also at the Bay Oval, Tauranga. To date, Sheridan has also stood in five preliminary matches with a further two in the Third Umpire’s chair.
The full Playing Control Team (PCT) in charge of the second semi-final will be on-field umpires Claire Polosak and Eloise Sheridan. Third Umpire Jacqueline Williams, Fourth Umpire Langton Rusere, with GS Lakshmi as ICC Match Referee.
