2019-20 State and Territory Umpire Panels announced

State Panel

State and Territory Umpire Panels (STP) for season 2019/20 have been announced across the country.

In total, 28 umpires have been selected by State and Territory Associations to join their respective Umpire Panels for the upcoming season.

Alongside Premier Cricket commitments, members of respective STP’s will be appointed to officiate in Cricket Australia (CA) competitions, including the rebel WBBL, Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL); Toyota Second XI; CA Underage National Championships and as Fourth Umpires in the KFC BBL.

Umpires appointed to respective State and Territory Umpire Panels have been identified as:

• The best performing umpires in their respective State or Territory
• Possessing a strong congruence to the desired umpiring attributes
• Having the potential to umpire at First Class level
• Possibly having the potential to umpire at International level

State and Territory Umpire Panels will be complemented by the six CA Supplementary Umpire Panel members across all formats. There are several new faces across the country, with some panels increasing in size to help service the increased number of matches scheduled for the season.

Mary Waldron joins the South Australian Panel following a successful 2018/19 season which included appointment to the CA Under 18 Female National Championships and a SACA Premier First Grade debut. Waldron is a current Irish International player and combines her playing career with umpiring commitments both here and abroad. In June this year, Waldron officiated in the ICC World T20 Europe Region Finals in Denmark. Waldron also travelled to the UK to stand in two Australia Women’s Tour Matches against England A at Loughborough.

In New South Wales, Kieran Knight, Sharad Patel and Bede Sajowitz have been promoted to the State Panel this season. Knight was appointed to the CA Under 18 Female National Championships last season in Bendigo and Ballarat. Patel stood in last season’s Under 15 Male National Championships and joined Sajowitz to form part of the Match Officials team which oversaw the inaugural National Premier Cricket T20 Championships in Adelaide.

Tasmania have welcomed Simon Burns and Jerry Matibiri to its State Panel. Burns has been appointed to the CA Under 15 Male National Championships for the past two consecutive years whilst Matibiri joins with a wealth of First-Class and international experience. To date, Matibiri has officiated in 23 One-Day International matches, 60 First-Class and a further 79 List-A matches, all in Zimbabwe.

The Queensland, Victorian and Western Australian State Panels remain unchanged from last season.

Congratulations to all umpires on their appointments.
