Simon Fry appointed to One-Day International Series in Guyana
Australian umpire Simon Fry appointed to upcoming One-Day International Series between the West Indies and Pakistan
Currently in Alice Springs for the Sheffield Shield Final, Fry will have a change of scenery and swap the Australian outback for the beaches of Guyana. Following the five-day Final in stifling conditions, Fry will travel to the West Indies in the coming days ready for the first of three games starting Friday 7 April.
During the Australia summer Fry was appointed to two Victoria Bitter One-Day International Series games between Australia and Pakistan in Perth and Adelaide. His last limited overs appointment on foreign shores was in August and September 2016 for the England versus Pakistan Series in the United Kingdom. This was a significant Series for international cricket, as the Playing Control Team (PCT) trialled new no-ball technology for the first time.
Fry currently has 31 One-Day International on-field appointments to his name (including a further 14 as Third Umpire). Appointed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to these fixtures, Fry will stand with ICC Elite Panel member Ian Gould alongside locally appointed umpires.
