Nogajski and Wilson appointed on-field for JLT Sheffield Shield Final

Shield Final

Cricket Australia (CA) have released the Match Officials appointments for the JLT Sheffield Shield Final between Victoria and New South Wales at the CitiPower Centre (St Kilda) commencing on Thursday 28 March.

Sam Nogajski and Paul Wilson have been appointed to stand on-field while Gerard Abood will be the Third Umpire. Overseeing proceedings will be Match Referee Daryl Harper. Mike Walsh and Jan Howard have been appointed Scorers.

Also appointed on-field to the JLT One-Day Cup and KFC BBL|08 Finals, Nogajski completes his treble of Finals appointments during this upcoming five-day fixture in Melbourne. He has 44 First-Class matches to his name and has stood in four JLT Sheffield Shield fixtures this season. In November 2018, Nogajski travelled to the West Indies and officiated in the ICC Women’s World T20 Cup. He was also appointed to the Gillette One-Day International Series between hosts Australia and India throughout January 2019, including on-field appointment at Adelaide Oval.

Following his elevation to the ICC Emerging Panel of Umpires in May 2018, Wilson has stood in matches across India, New Zealand and the West Indies alongside his Australian domestic cricket commitments. Since November 2018, Wilson has been appointed by the ICC to three One-Day International Series’, including India versus West Indies; New Zealand versus Sri Lanka; and most recently West Indies versus England in February 2019. His international cricket stint continued on Australian soil with appointment to the Gillette T20 INTL Series against South Africa and India before Christmas, as well as the Gillette One-Day International Series between Australia and India throughout January 2019. Wilson stood alongside Nogajski for the JLT One-Day Cup Final in early October but was unavailable for KFC BBL|08 Finals due to his international duties.

Supporting the team from the Third Umpire box is Abood, who has had a breakout season. Abood made his One-Day International debut between Australia and South Africa in November at Adelaide Oval, before standing in the Gillette T20 INTL Series also featuring South Africa and India. Abood had a strong KFC BBL season which culminated in his first BBL Final in February 2019.

The Playing Control Team is complemented by Harper. With 165 First-Class; 95 Tests and 174 One-Day Internationals as an Umpire, and a further 39 First-Class matches as a Match Referee to his name, Harper brings to the Final an unprecedented amount of experience.

The game is scheduled to commence at 10:30AM EST daily and will be broadcast on Fox Cricket. Match Officials Appointments can be viewed here.
