Sam Nogajski to officiate in South Africa
Cricket Australia National Umpire Panel member Sam Nogajski has departed for South Africa to officiate in the A-Series featuring the South Africa, India and Afghanistan A-teams.
The series will provide Nogajski with further international experience following an extensive Australian international summer which included two Test and three One Day International 4th Umpire Appointments. Nogajski then made his on-field International debut in the T20 International between Australia and Sri Lanka at Kardinia Park Geelong in February. Nogajski also officiated in last season’s A-Series in Cairns and Mackay which featured both the South African and Indian A teams.
Nogajski is no stranger to officiating in foreign conditions having previously stood in the South African Sunfoil First-Class Series in April 2016. His matches at Centurion in Cape Town and Paarl helped shape the final competition standings for 2015/16. Nogajski has also previously stood in in New Zealand’s Plunkett Shield and more recently, India’s Ranji Trophy.
The forthcoming A-Series appointments will include Field and Third Umpire duties in the 50-Over Tri-Series, and conclude with on-field appointments for the two 4-Day Matches. His first match on-field will be the 50-Over fixture between South Africa A and India A on 28 July in Pretoria. Nogajski will be in South Africa until the end of August and will return to Australia in time to prepare for the forthcoming Australian summer.
