Cricket Australia Announces Match Referee Panel
Cricket Australia (CA) has announced its nine-member panel of Match Referees for the 2020/21 season.
The structure announced by CA has combined the former National Match Referee Panel (NRP) and Supplementary Match Referee Panel (SRP) which will officiate the coming season’s Domestic Cricket fixtures. The current COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated the amalgamation of the six-member NRP and nine-member SRP to form a single CA Match Referee Panel. The Panel includes two new members in Test Match umpires Steve Davis and Simon Fry. Fry joins the Referee ranks having retired from on-field umpiring at the end of the 2019/20 season. Davis, also a member of the ECB’s referees panel, joins the Panel following a distinguished umpiring career that included 57 Test Matches on field.
The Panel also includes ICC accredited Match Referees Steve Bernard and Bob Stratford, both of whom are available to officiate the Women’s One Day and T20 Internationals. Due to global travel restrictions currently in place, International Cricket Council (ICC) Match Referee David Boon will also be available to officiate the home Men’s International matches this season.
