Mick Harper has become the 105th Australian Test Match Scorer. Harper officiated in the scorer’s box during the Third Commonwealth Bank Test Match between Australia and South Africa at the Adelaide Oval.

Earlier this season, Harper sat in the scorer’s box when South Africa was in Adelaide for their 2 Tour Matches. Harper is a great servant of the game and his involvement spans all levels, with his roots still being at club cricket level where he has been First and Second XI scorer for Adelaide Grade Club Sturt for over a decade. Harper has played many roles at Sturt occupying the positions of Secretary, Committee Member and even Assistant Groundsman throughout the years.

Last summer, Harper made his First-Class scoring debut officiating in all 5 home Sheffield Shield preliminary matches played by South Australia. In addition, Harper has been previously the appointed scorer in WNCL, WBBL and various State Trial Matches.

Away from the ground, Harper is an active volunteer and was duly recognised in 2014 as the SACA Grade Cricket Volunteer of the Year. His involvement in the game off the field has also extended to the South Australian Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association (SACUSA) where he sat as Chair of the Umpires Appointment Committee.

The Third Commonwealth Bank Test Match at the Adelaide Oval represents a wonderful achievement for Harper and recognition of his contribution to the game. Harper sat alongside fellow SACA scorer Neil Ricketts who officiated in his 5th Test Match.
