Martell appointed to historic fixture in PNG
Australian National Umpire Panel member Mick Martell appointed to the first ever ICC fixture to be held in Papua New Guinea
In the first ever international ICC global cricket match in PNG, the PNG Barramundis will host Kenya in the third and final round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship.
Two games will be played at the Amini Park in Port Moresby, on Saturday 28 and Monday 30 May. The venue has only been recently granted ICC approval to host international games.
The ICC World Cricket League Championship is an elite 50 over competition, and acts as a pathway for participating teams to play in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 to ultimately qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Martell joins local Papua New Guinean umpires on the ICC Global A&A Panel, Lakani Oala and Alu Kapa, across the two fixtures.
