Kent Hannam to Debut in KFC BBL10

Kent Hannam

Cricket Australia (CA) Match Referee Kent Hannam will officiate in his first KFC BBL match when the Sydney Thunder play the Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Hannam had a distinguished coaching career in Victoria leading the Hawthorn Waverley and Fitzroy-Doncaster Cricket Clubs. Hannam then coached the Victorian Second XI and was assistant coach for the Victorian Women’s cricket team.

Hannam joined the Match Referee ranks prior to the 2015/16 season and was duly appointed to the first two editions of the rebel WBBL in 2015/16 and in 2016/17. Prior to the 2017/18 season, CA established the Supplementary Match Referee Panel (SRP) to which Hannam was appointed as an inaugural member.  Outside of cricket, Hannam’s involvement in elite sport extended to the AFL where he was a runner for the St Kilda and North Melbourne Football Club’s, the latter including two AFL Premierships in the 1990’s.

Hannam’s refereeing career thus far has yielded 46 rebel WBBL matches including the 2020/21 Semi Final, five WNCL matches, appointments to the 2017/18 Under 19 One Day Internationals between Australia and Pakistan and 2019/20 England Lions tour match. His KFC BBL refereeing debut will be alongside on-field umpires Simon Lightbody and Donovan Koch, Third Umpire Paul Wilson and Fourth Umpire Nathan Johnstone.
