JLT Sheffield Shield Match Official appointments announced
Congratulations to all Match Officials who have been appointed to officiate upcoming JLT Sheffield Shield fixtures around the country.
The 2017/18 JLT Sheffield Shield season commences on Thursday 26 October with day/night fixtures across Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.
In round one, Paul Wilson makes his 50th First Class appearance at the same venue he made his debut in November 2009. In that fixture at the WACA, Wilson stood alongside current ICC Elite Panel member Bruce Oxenford as visitors New South Wales won outright against Western Australia. In total, Wilson has officiated in 37 Sheffield Shield games, including appointment to the two Finals in Adelaide and Alice Springs.
Wilson has stood in four First Class fixtures on foreign soil as part of the annual Umpire Exchange initiative, including two in India and two in South Africa. He also stood in four Australia ‘A’ First Class fixtures in Queensland in 2014 and again in 2016. Wilson has officiated in a further four Tour Matches featuring England and New Zealand. Gerard Abood joins Wilson at the WACA for this important match.
On Monday 13 November Queensland’s Donovan Koch makes his First-Class debut at the MCG. Having recently made his One-Day Domestic debut at AB Field, Koch has made a big impact on the Queensland Cricket scene having started his career in just September 2012. He made his First-Grade debut the following season and was appointed to the Alan Pettigrew Second-Grade Grand Final at the end of the year.
Last season Koch joined the CA Development Umpire Panel, and in the same year he stood in two Tour Matches including the Cricket Australia XI versus Pakistan at AB Field and the Governor General’s XI featuring the Australian Women and South African Women in Sydney. Amongst five WBBL fixtures, he also made his debut in the Third Umpire chair for a BBL fixture at the SCG before concluding another big season with appointment to the Under 19 International Series in Hobart.
Sam Nogajski joins Koch on-field, whilst David Talalla has been appointed as Match Referee.
