ACT Cricket Scorer makes Test Match Debut

Cricket Scorer Chris McLeod will oversee his first Test Match in the scorers’ chair when Australia play England in the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes Test starting today at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

McLeod played the game throughout childhood but took up cricket scoring through those younger years. McLeod starting scoring club cricket with the Randwick-Petersham Cricket Club in the 2009-10 and went on to run the book for the First Grade for the next seven seasons. The Randwick-Petersham Cricket Club recognised McLeod’s contribution to the club and the game by naming him Clubman of the Year for the 2013/14 season. During his time in Sydney, McLeod was appointed to several representative matches including Sheffield Shield, One-Day Cup, BBL, WNCL and WBBL matches. McLeod also made his first foray into International cricket by running the book in Women’s International matches.

Prior to the 2017/18 season, McLeod relocated to Canberra with work and took up the scorers’ post at the Eastlake Cricket Club and has been with the Demons ever since. McLeod’s representative appointments kept coming once in Canberra scoring in Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 matches in Canberra. McLeod also achieved the rare feat of debuting in a Men’s One Day International when Australia played India at Manuka Oval.

McLeod becomes the 30th Australian Cricket scorer to officiate in a Women’s Test Match and will sit alongside Rammanee Shivakkumar in the scorers’ box.
