Ben Treloar makes First-Class Umpiring Debut

Cricket Australia (CA) Supplementary Umpire Panel (SUP) member Ben Treloar makes his First-Class umpiring debut when South Australia play New South Wales in the Marsh Sheffield Shield match at the Adelaide Oval.

Treloar started his umpiring career in the 2006/07 season, playing and umpiring concurrently until he finished his playing career. In season 2010/11, Treloar was appointed to the Cricket Australia Under 17 Male National Championships and again in 2012/13. Starting in season 2013/14, for the next three consecutive seasons he was appointed to the CA Under 19 Championships

In 2017, Treloar received a place on the Australian Sports Commission National Officiating Scholarship (NOS) program and was later part of the inaugural Cricket Australia High Performance Officiating program in Brisbane. Treloar then stood in the Under 19 International Series between Australia and Sri Lanka in Hobart later that year. Treloar took a significant step in his umpiring career when he was appointed to the CA Supplementary Umpire Panel for the 2017/18 season.

In November 2017, Treloar was appointed Fourth Umpire during the Women’s Ashes Day Night Test Match between Australia and England at North Sydney Oval. Throughout this CA journey Treloar has also officiated in ten Second XI and 20 Women’s Twenty20 fixtures. In the shortest format, Ben has been appointed Third Umpire in four BBL matches with a further 13 as Fourth umpire. Last season, Treloar made his List-A debut in the match between South Australia and Tasmania at Karen Rolton Oval. Treloar was also appointed to England Lions four tour matches including three between the CA XI and the Lions. This season, Treloar spent the second half of the WBBL in the Hub where he stood in four matches with a further two matches in the Third Umpire’s chair.

In New South Wales to date, Treloar has 228 Sydney Premier Cricket matches to his name including 155 First-Grade matches with eight lower grade Grand Finals. Treloar is also a four-time a winner of the prestigious George Borwick Memorial Award, the NSW Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association’s highest honour.

Treloar will stand alongside on-field umpire Mike Graham-Smith with Match Referee Steve Davis overseeing proceedings.
