Cricket Australia Coaching

The Australian Way

Focus on the basics - Watching the ball, moving according to the line and length and having a free swing of the bat!

In Australia we batters who look to score at every opportunity, develop a wide range of scoring options, can play straight and square of the wicket, run hard between wickets and are aware of the field placements and the game situation.

For junior Cricketers its important to get your batting off on the right foot!

Having the correct stance is vital if you want to score runs, the most important thing about stance is that you need to be well balanced.

Remember the following:

  • Heavy bats will restrict a junior cricketers ability to move
  • Get batters on to the balls of their feet
  • Bat down makes it easier to move the body
