Cricket Australia Coaching
Queensland Cricketers in Good Hands
Queensland Cricket wrapped up its Representative Coaching accreditation program for 2016-17 delivering courses in Cairns mid-year and Brisbane last week to over 50 coaches.
Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, along with Regional Cricket Manager Blake Rutherford hosted 24 coaches from throughout Queensland along with three from Dubai, Pakistan and Zimbabwe enjoying the beautiful weather.
Thanks must go too Far North Queensland Cricket for engaging and promoting the course to their coaches and congratulations on their decision to trial the New Junior Formats. With proactive decisions like this cricket in the north is certainly in good hands.
Down south AB Oval played host to 31 coaches at the final course of the year with three internationals from Sri Lanka and New Zealand. It was also a pleasure to have First Class player Charlie Hemphrey involved and be able to share his insights.
During the course Australia and Pakistan were preparing for their ODI matches alongside the Bulls, Fire and HEAT who were also training for their respective tournaments creating a wonderful experience for the participants involved.
During both courses participants experienced a range of topics including “creating effective training sessions” by Sports Scientist Jonathon Connor and were exposed to the latest research on how to develop holistic players that are able to adapt under difficult or changing conditions. Another important outcome from both courses was the interaction between Qld Crickets High Performance Coaches and participants.
A highlight was to see the growing number of female coaches enrolling and searching for more information to ensure our ever rising number of female players are being provided quality sessions.
