CA Coaching Helmet Policy Change

04 February 2019

CA Coaches to wear helmets during white ball training sessions.

Cricket Australia has endorsed a position that all CA elite coaches are to wear helmets that are British Standard compliant for cricket, at all white ball (T20/ One-Day) training sessions. This is inclusive of throwing, wanging or use of a bowling machine.

This is mandatory for all net session and centre wicket training sessions that evolve around official One Day Cricket or T20 Cricket training to prevent serious head injuries occurring.

The aim is to reduce the risk to coaches in training environments that encourage players to practice ‘big hitting’.

Cricket Australia encourages all coaches to use protective equipment to reduce the risk on serious injury.
