Cricket Australia Coaching

Australian Cricket along with States and Territory Associations will continue with there successful Industry first offering of Free Community (Level 1) coaching courses to the grassroots cricket community!

The initiative will develop coaching skills around Australia, with an emphasis on junior cricket, by making the courses more accessible to parents, volunteers and all budding cricket coaches who devote their time and effort to ensure children of all backgrounds can enjoy the game we love!

We exceeded our expectation of more than 3,000 people across the country to undertake the free courses during the 2017-18 season with a staggering 4,000 coaches completing the course.

A number of changes have been made in relation to the Community Course this season. A series of online modules have been created across a variety of different topics to compliment the 4 hour face to face session. Participant feedback suggested that the time spent engaging in practical activities during the face to face session was by far the most important and beneficial part of the course. As a result the face to face component is now entirely practical and the theory, concepts and key messages outlined in the online modules will be brought to life in a practical way.

Coaches will also be reminded of their impact on children through discussions on;

• The impact of a fun, safe and inclusive learning environment with a ‘duty of care’ to all players;

The important role they play in helping children learn the game and develop their skills
